Styling the Inverted Triangle Body Shape: Tops, Bottoms and Dresses

Accentuate your lower body

Clothing should be worn that will make the hips and thighs look fuller and rounder in order to balance your body shape. Also, adding details to the hips will make you look curvier and your shoulders smaller.

Tops

Choose tops with features that will accentuate your waist and help balance the bust with the hips such as:
> Dark colors.
> Narrow V-necks.
> Banding or nipping at the waist.
> Wrap-style.

Bottoms

Select bottoms that will add volume to the lower body in order to balance the upper body such as:
> Both light coloured and bold coloured skirts and pants can be worn.
> All types of prints and textures from horizontal stripes to lace.
> A-line skirts or full skirts such as ruffle, tiered and full circle.
> Pants with embellished or flap-style pockets.
> Pants and jeans with boot cut, flare or wide legs.
> Cargo pants.
> Jeans with whiskering at the hips.

Dresses

Select styles that give the appearance of a defined waist and add curves such as:
> Flare dress.
> Nipped and waist paneled dresses.

As an inverted triangle body shape, what type of bottoms do you like to wear?
