Styling the Triangle Body Shape: Tops, Bottoms and Dresses

Accentuate your upper body

It is recommended that clothing which visually adds volume to the shoulders and bust be worn in order to balance your proportions and to avoid attention from being focused on the hips and thigh.

Tops

Select tops that will visually add volume to your bust and shoulders which will help balance your lower half and accentuate your defined waist such as:
> Bold patterns and bright colours such as red, orange and electric blue.
> Nipped or fitted waists.
> Boat necks, wide V-necks or scoop necks.
> Structured shoulders.
> Sleeves such as princess, flutter, bell or kimono.
> Details around the bust and shoulders such as polka dots, stripes, sequins, zippers, large lapels or collars.

Bottoms

Look for bottoms that will minimise your lower half such as:
> Dark colours, simple stitching and clean lines.
> A-line skirts.
> Lightly gathered skirts that skim the body.
> Pants that fall straight from the widest part of the hips.
> Avoid details such as whiskering and embellished pockets.

Dresses

Select styles that enhance  and draw attention to your upper body and help hide wide hips such as:
>Fitted open-neck or strapless.
>Empire waist.
>A-line cut.

As a triangle body shape, what type of dresses look best on you?
